Minerva's Den, the latest piece of downloadable content to be announced for BioShock 2, will be out this fall. 2K has announced that it will be a single-player affair that is "a self-contained narrative experience," which puts players in the shoes of a new character. It will be coming out for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 the publisher has confirmed.

　　Minerva's Den is set in Rapture Central Computing and will feature a raft of new features alongside the new narrative. Announcing the expansion, 2K promised "new high-tech weaponry," as well as a new plasmid, the genetic modifications found in the BioShock universe. These powers can be unleashed on new, more powerful splicers and an all-new Big Daddy, according to the publisher. Upgraded security bots were also promised.

　　BioShock 2 was released in February and sold in excess of 3 million units in its first month on sale. This was followed relatively swiftly by the release of two pieces of multiplayer-focused DLC--the Rapture Metro Pack and the Sinclair Solutions Test Pack--and one piece of single-player DLC, the Protector Trials, which came out on August 3. Minerva's Den is the first to expand the main narrative or introduce new solo environments, as the Protector Trials were a series of challenges set in maps based on locations found in the main game.

　　Minerva's Den is being developed by 2K Marin, who handled development of the single-player portion of BioShock 2. A price for the expansion has not been announced; the Rapture Metro Pack sold for $10 or 800 Microsoft points ($10, £6.85, AU$13.20), while both the Protector Trials and the Sinclair Solutions Pack sold for $5 or 400 Microsoft points ($5, £3.43, AU$6.60).
