Looking to be a god again? GameSpot is giving one hundred lucky gamers the chance to help Blue Byte Software perfect its upcoming god simulation title, Settlers III. In the latest Settlers, you choose one of three campaigns: Roman, Egyptian, or Asian where you build up a culture's economy, beat the other two races through battle, and since in the end there can be only one - your goal is to come out on top of the heap.
Why should you even build an economy? Well, the gods Jupiter (Romans), Horus (Egyptians), and Ch'ih -Yu (Asians) have spent more time watching people do their own thing instead of doing anything active and thus have become god-sized couch potatoes. Their superior, HE, orders them to get active and find a leader for their race. If you fail, you get punished. Settlers III is the third in a series of titles that has already sold over one million copies. The third iteration of the title takes god sims to the next level in real time with strategic simulation of prosperity, tactics, combat, and growth. And its even bigger with 150 different types of characters, 30 different trades for each race, 40 different buildings for each race, and a bright color palette to make maps come alive.
With the Settlers III beta test, Blue Byte is hoping to get all the bugs out of its title and wants you to test some of the new features including expanded navel elements over the company's dedicated Net server. You'll not only be helping make sure Settlers III is all it can be, but you'll be learning strategies to beat your friends with when they get the game - and we all like that extra advantage. So click on the link to the right, sign up, and Blue Byte will contact you if you're one of the 100 lucky beta testers. Good luck.
