Bandai has announced that it plans to sell 1.8 million units of its WonderSwan handheld in Japan during the fiscal year ending March 2002. If the company is able to reach its forecasts, the handheld's total installed user base will be more than 3 million units in the country. Bandai expects to announce a one billion yen ($8.5 million) loss in its WonderSwan Color operations for the year to March 2001. It expects to turn an operating profit for the coming fiscal year.
Furthermore, Bandai is currently considering the possibility of releasing the WonderSwan Color in the North American and European markets. However, its primary focus remains the Japanese market at this time.
