Following yesterday evening's Games Awards ceremony in London, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has today updated its Web site with details of the winning games. The night really belonged to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, which won awards in no less than six categories, while EyeToy: Play and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising claimed two awards apiece. A special BAFTA award was also bestowed upon Chris Deering, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, for his outstanding contribution to the games industry.
"I am truly grateful to the British Academy for this award, which celebrates the success of Sony PlayStation over the past decade," said Deering. "British creative talent and the energy of our London-based multicultural management team have been the drivers of our leadership. The honor of this award is rightfully shared with the thousands of outstanding British game creators who have been global innovators in the merger of art and computer science since the earliest days of computer games."
