The first stage of the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador program is officially available, with the 10 free NES games that Nintendo promised to early Nintendo 3DS adopters appearing in the E-Shop yesterday. Think of the Ambassador program as a consolation prize for those who bought the 3DS console at its original launch RRP. The games included range from Super Mario Bros. to The Legend of Zelda, so they're actually worth redeeming if you don't already own them.
There's still no word on when the Game Boy Advance phase of the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador program will commence, so stay tuned to Aussie emulation mash-up for all the latest details.
Nintendo 3DS Ambassador program aside, the only game to arrive across Nintendo's various digital store fronts is 1950s Lawn Mower Kids for DSiWare. The concept here is pretty simple: you've gotta guide kids around the backyard while they mow the lawn.
After the incredibly innocent game that is 1950s Lawn Mower Kids, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has one for the adults this week on Xbox Live Arcade. While this year's Mortal Kombat reboot didn't make it to Australia, the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection was released earlier this week with no edits. The combo pack contains Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, in what Warner Bros. is calling "arcade-perfect" ports of the games. Like the Street Fighter remixes, all three games have been brought into the 21st century with the additions of trophy/achievement support, online multiplayer, and leaderboards. Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection is also slated to be released on the PlayStation Network Store shortly, but like so many multiplatform downloadable games, this one has made it onto Xbox Live Arcade first.
One exception to that rule, though, is The Baconing, which is available on both the PlayStation Network Store and Xbox Live Arcade now. This is the third game in the Death Spank series, and it sees combat take the spotlight. The humour that the series is known for remains intact, but the fact that it's just too similar to the previous games is one of the biggest gripes that the critics had with the game. Given its mediocre score, perhaps this is one for the fans of the series only.
