A few weeks ago, Dick Smith Electronics presold a small supply of Nintendo 3DS consoles for A$299 and threw in a free copy of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars. Since then, however, most other retailers have stuck to the A$349.95 recommended price tag. Yesterday, when the handheld console launched, GameSpot AU member Chickan_117 noticed that K-Mart was offering the Nintendo 3DS for A$288. Not only is that a big discount, but the retail giant is also throwing in a free accessory pack, making it the best deal around. Given that it's now April 1, we're starting a new tally for quarter two and at the moment, Chickan_117 is leading...mainly because he's the only one who's in it!
Last week marked the end of the quarter one bargains competition, and it came down to a tie between Chickan_117 and jeditay. Both winners will be contacted shortly, and they’ll each be sent a prize from GameSpot AU's box of goodies.
In other bargain-related news, Owza48 found a new site called GamesPlus, which seems to be an Aussie-based video games retailer. While it's not as cheap as overseas import sites, it does offer free shipping and is still cheaper than normal brick-and-mortar stores. If you try GamesPlus out, be sure to tell your fellow GameSpotters what it's like in the forum and whether it's worth using again.
Remember, to be in the running, you need to post your bargains over in the GameSpot AU bargains thread, and the GameSpot AU editorial team will pick the best one each week.
