Aureal Semiconductor announced its financial results for the second quarter Monday. In that quarter, which ended on June 28, revenues equaled about US$3.4 million, compared with $0.7 million in the same quarter last year.
The second-quarter revenues expand on the $3.6 million in revenues Aureal earned in the first quarter, which Aureal attributes to the increase in the manufacture and sales of PCI audio cards and the subsequent increase in use of Aureal's A3D technology prevalent in some of those cards. Aureal also plans on offering its Vortex AU8820 Digital Audio Processor in the second half of this year.
However, Aureal posted a net loss of $5.4 million in the second quarter, equaling the net loss of the first quarter.
"The momentum is building in the PC market place for PCI audio and especially high-quality, feature-rich audio," said Kip Kokinakis, Aureal's president and CEO. "We believe Vortex and A3D are setting new standards for high-quality PC audio. The combination of Aureal and Diamond offering products together in the market is a tremendous addition for both of us."
