Atari today announced that it has lowered expectations for its fiscal second quarter, which ends September 30, 2003.
Revenues and earnings during this period will be lower than they were for the same period last year, Atari said. However, the company states that its new product releases have been and are concentrated in the first, third, and fourth fiscal quarters, and Atari expects net revenues for its full fiscal year, ending March 31, 2004, to be between $560 million and $590 million, a 5 to 10 percent improvement on the previous fiscal year.
Net income for fiscal year 2003 is predicted to be between $35 million and $45 million, a 100 to 160 percent increase on net income for fiscal year 2002, which ended March 31, 2003.
Among the titles currently scheduled to release in Atari's third and fourth fiscal quarters are the multiplatform releases of Mission: Impossible: Operation Surma (GBA/GC/PS2/Xbox) and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (GBA/PS2/Xbox); Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark, Unreal Tournament 2004, and Civilization III: Conquests for the PC; Dragonball Z: Budokai 2 for the PS2; and Dead Man's Hand and Unreal II: The Awakening for the Xbox.
