Toward the end of Assassin's Creed Mirage, a long mission called The Serpent's Nest will ask you to solve a particular book puzzle involving some poetry and a four-pack of metaphors. This can be a bit confusing, especially thanks to one additional detail we'll detail below. For help on the book puzzle, use our guide right here. Note that this guide comes with spoilers, so if you're not in need of the solution right now, you should turn back until you may be stumped later.
Up the stairs, you can place these four books on altars, and doing so in the right order will solve the puzzle and reveal a secret room for you to advance through.
A poem at the foot of the stairs hides the answer key to the book puzzle. However, these books and their associated metaphors get a little lost in translation. By now you may have already figured out what each book stands for, but here's that part of the puzzle anyway:
Ocean - blue bookDesert - yellow bookCobra - black bookDove - white bookThis may be easy enough to deduce, but when you place the books in this order from left to right, nothing happens--and that's where a vital final detail comes into play: Arabic is written and read from right to left, not left to right.
Putting the books in the correct order from RIGHT to LEFT will quickly solve the puzzle. Therefore, at the top of the stairs when looking at the four altars, you should place them in the above order from right to left, meaning the altar closest to the stairway is for the blue book, followed by yellow, then black, then white.
As soon as you perform these steps, a cutscene will play revealing the next part of your mission. If you'd like to dig up more secrets in Assassin's Creed Mirage, don't miss how to "find the hidden place."
