Survival horror fans will be getting their dose of outer-worldly scares when Dead Space 2 hits stores tomorrow. The game follows up the story from the first game, with main character Isaac Clarke stuck on Titan Station while being dogged by both the Church of Unitology and a corporation out to exploit the game’s central plot device, the Marker artifact.
Topped off with hallucinations of his late girlfriend, it’s no wonder Isaac Clarke’s been given a lot of weapons and new RIG suit features to combat all of the impending madness he’ll be facing. The game will be out for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Gamers unsure of whether or not to dip their toes into this startle-filled pond can check out the demo that’s available.
Coming out alongside EA’s entry is Square Enix’s Mindjack for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Players get to control a federal agent on an escort mission; the kicker being that he has access to a special military headset that enables him to hack into the minds of civilians and other headset bearers. Beyond that, this game follows the cover-based third-person shooter template set by Gears of War, only that you can "mindhack" downed enemies to join your cause and serve as additional distractions. The Asian release of the game will feature English and Japanese subtitles.
Out this Wednesday is the PC version of the hit XBLA multiplayer fragfest Monday Night Combat. This game combines the class-based shooter intricacies of Team Fortress 2 along with the real-time strategy trappings of the longtime hit PC game Defense of the Ancients (DOTA). The PC version will have dedicated servers, “editor support,” controller support, and a few other unannounced features that Uber Entertainment will keep quiet about until the 25th hits.
