ASC and BMG to Merge?
ASC and BMG to Merge?-October 2024
Oct 18, 2024 10:26 AM

In a recent issue of British trade magazine Computer Trade Weekly, the paper draws the conclusion that the most likely outcome of recent talks between ASC Games and European publisher BMG Interactive is a merger.

However, GameSpot News has learned that an out-and-out merger may not be the only thing currently on the table. In fact, a copublishing agreement (an extension of the deal where ASC will publish BMG's Grand Theft Auto in the US, while BMG handles One in Europe) is yet another possible result being considered.

Whatever the outcome, the possibilities for both companies are quite interesting.

If worked out right, ASC could end up with North American rights to publish BMG properties such as Zombie's commando sim Spec Ops (PC/PS); DMA Design's quirky Space Station Silicon Valley (N64); Blam!'s Zelda-esque adventure title Monkey Hero (PS); and more. BMG could likewise benefit by lining up European rights to ASC's sequel to One (PS); the graphic thriller Sanitarium (PC); and several unannounced titles the company is currently working on.

When contacted by GameSpot News, ASC's Jayson Bernstein responded, "Confirming any deal would be premature at this time, but we certainly will be working with them again."
