GameSpot has learned that Nintendo of America president Minoru Arakawa has relinquished his position on the Nintendo Company Limited board of directors. Shigeru Myamoto, who is responsible for several popular Nintendo brands, has assumed the vacant position on the board. According to a Nintendo of America representative, the move was prompted by the company's decision to assign executives with technical proficiency to the board to prepare for the launch of its next-generation Dolphin system. Mr. Arakawa will remain the president of NOA.
As you know, Nintendo of America chairman Howard Lincoln recently stepped down from his position on the NCL board as well, as he resigned from the company in February. Mr. Lincoln served as the unofficial head of Nintendo's US operations for more than 15 years.
