After lead level designer (and the voice of PR) Randy Pitchford announced last week that Electronic Arts had canceled Rebel Boat Rocker's Prax War, GameSpot News contacted Pitchford to get a little more information on the somewhat surprising turn of events.

　　GameSpot News: Was the cancellation by EA sudden?Randy Pitchford: It was somewhat sudden, but not a complete surprise. EA and RBR had very good communication, and we knew what was going on with each party on a day-to-day basis.

　　GSN: It wasn't exactly clear why EA cancelled Prax War, because you say they did so because "things were not progressing as quickly as they would have liked" as we reported earlier. Can you clear this up?RP: I was quoting a comment by an EA PR spokesperson. EA and RBR all understand why Prax War was cancelled. I know their comments about "missing our technology window" were ambiguous, though. As a new friend pointed out, it does none of the parties any good to assign blame. But, to carefully answer the question, I think in the end, EA became uncertain about this game's schedule.

　　GSN: Is RBR still going to be around in any capacity?RP: The two engineers are staying behind. They've indicated that they intend to finish the technology. I really hope they do because it will be remarkable.

　　GSN: Will any of the technology developed for Prax War be used in the future?RP: It's hard to say. I believe that the RBR engineers have every intention of continuing to develop technology. Of course, the tech is likely to change dramatically from its state now, but it is possible that some form of what was developed will be released in some way or another. The underlying philosophies will probably remain.... Those concepts are what made the technology so appealing to me in the first place. We'll all have to wait and see what develops.
