This morning, Eidos issued a statement announcing that Angelina Jolie has indeed been confirmed to star in the role of Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider movie. Rumors about Jolie as Croft started appearing on the Internet a couple of weeks ago, but earlier this week published reports stated that Jolie had turned down the role because of her recent Oscar win. This morning's announcement, however, should end all speculation.
Tomb Raider the movie is being directed by Simon West, who in the past has worked on action flicks like Con Air with Nicholas Cage and The General's Daughter with John Travolta. Principal photography will begin on the movie this summer in an area just outside London.
