One of Shenmue 3's super-premium Kickstarter rewards was for a dinner and planning meeting with Suzuki in Monaco. Two people pledged $10,000 for this reward and will get to meet with the famed designer this weekend in the nearby city of Eze.
"What exactly will get planned at the meeting? Well, we will all have to wait and find out..!" developer Ys Net said in a Kickstarter update. "Wish our backers good luck as they head into the most important meeting of their lives (or maybe at least of the weekend)!"
Shenmue III's Kickstarter campaign raised more than $6 million last summer, blowing past its $2 million target. The "slacker backer" campaign was launched after the Kickstarter campaign ended, allowing people to continue to support the game. This second crowdfunding wave ran through the end of 2015.
The game is scheduled to come to both PC and PlayStation 4. Sony is helping to market and produce Shenmue III, but won't receive any of the money raised through crowdfunding.
Ys Net has said it is aiming to launch Shenmue III in December 2017.
