Allied Assault storms back to the front
Allied Assault storms back to the front-November 2024
Nov 18, 2024 4:47 PM

Electronic Arts took the top honors on both of NPD Techworld's latest lists of best-selling games. Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, EA's popular World War II first-person action game, shot back into first place on the latest weekly list, followed by The Sims: Vacation, EA's popular virtual-life game expansion. Grand Theft Auto III, Take-Two's third-person urban action game, fell from first place to third place, bumping The Sims, EA's best-selling virtual-life game, down to the fourth position. Activision rounded out the top five with Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix, its gory modern-day shooter.

The Sims: Vacation remained in first place on the monthly list for the third time in a row, which isn't surprising, considering it is an expansion pack for the best-selling PC game of all time, The Sims. Grand Theft Auto III came in second place for the month, followed by Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, LucasArts' popular Star Wars action game. The Sims itself came in fourth place for the month, while The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Bethesda's ambitious fantasy role-playing game, took the fifth position.
