The two teams that will be receiving direct invites to the ESL One Frankfurt event that is due to take place in the Commerzbank-Arena World Cup Stadium have today been confirmed as the International 2013 finalists: Alliance and Natus Vincere.
Alliance and Natus Vincere will both receive direct placement into the top eight teams attending the final event. The remaining six slots will be determined via three separate qualification events. The European qualifiers will provide three slots, the Asian qualifiers will provide two slots and finally the American qualifiers will provide the remaining slot.
"ESL One Frankfurt will see the best teams in the world competing in front of thousands of fans. Two of the best teams in the world are, without question, Alliance and Natus Vincere - the finalists of the The International 3.
We are happy to announce that Alliance and Natus Vincere will be both attending and competing at ESL One Frankfurt. Both teams will be invited to the tournament and receive direct placement into the top eight teams attending the final event.
Alliance, the champions of The International 3, is a team that need no introduction as their reputation speaks for itself. While only created last year, Alliance took the Dota 2 scene by storm, skillfully defeating opponents while barely breaking a sweat. Their dominance continued throughout the summer, with The International being the cherry on top of a superb season. In the finals, they met their arch rivals Natus Vincere in a match that will be remembered for years to come.
Natus Vincere, champions of The International 1 and finalist at International 2 and 3, are perhaps the most popular team in the world, having shown more consistency during their entire Dota 2 career than any other team. Created in 2010 with some lineup changes throughout the years, the team won The International 1 and proceeded to perform incredibly in each major tournament they attended."
The main event will take part over the course of two days, starting on the 28th and finishing on the 29th of June and will be the first event of the ESL One series featuring Dota 2 under the name of ESL One Frankfurt. A total of eight of the world's best Dota 2 teams will participate in the event for a large share of the $150,000 prize pool. The prize pool will also be boosted by the sale of new in-game items bundled along with the Dota TV ticket.
ESL One has also announced that the fans will be able to directly support their favourite team via a special referral system which will see a portion of the ticket proceeds go to the team of their choice.
"In addition to these two amazing teams attending the event, we are also happy to announce that we will be helping the teams directly as well as working towards furthering the development of the professional scene. ESL is dedicated to creating a healthy eSports ecosystem, and through a special referral system fans will be able to support their favourite team directly by attending the event as teams will earn a portion of the proceeds of tickets they sell."
The third wave of tickets for ESL One Frankfurt will be available tomorrow on the 21st of March at 18:00 CET: http://www.esl-one.com/dota2/frankfurt-2014/
