Oct 22, 2024 9:42 AM

Sierra, Fox Interactive, and Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL) have announced the approval of Aliens Versus Predator 2 as an official tournament game of the CPL, joining other official CPL tournament games such as Counter-Strike and Quake III Arena. The upcoming sci-fi action game will be included in a 30-city competition at CPL qualifying centers, in a worldwide online tournament, and in the upcoming CPL World Championship event. The Aliens Versus Predator 2 finals tournament will feature more than $60,000 in prizes, including a grand prize of a high-end 2002 Ford Focus ZX3, courtesy of the American Products Company. The finals tournament will take place December 5-9, 2001, in Dallas at the CPL World Championship event. Tournament registration will be launched on Wednesday, October 31, at the official CPL Web site.

Aliens Versus Predator 2 is a sequel to the popular 1999 action game Aliens Versus Predator, which was inspired by the Aliens and Predator movies. In the new game, players can assume the role of an alien, a predator, or a human marine. The game will include three different single-player campaigns, each with seven missions. Aliens Versus Predator 2 was developed by Monolith Productions, and it will be available in stores near the end of the month for an approximate retail price of $49.95.
