Alien Vs. Predator 3D E3 2005 Impressions
Alien Vs. Predator 3D E3 2005 Impressions-October 2024

Superscape, one of the chief companies championing V-Cast 3D, is working on a game titled Alien Vs. Predator 3D. Not too surprisingly, this is an on-rails shooter in which you face an onslaught of extraterrestrial baddies--both aliens and predators. The game is very early in development and at this point amounts to a tech demo.

Already, though, the unoptimized code was running at around 10 frames per second, and most of the texturing was in place on the tutorial ice level we saw. No baddies were in evidence, however.

Alien Vs. Predator 3D will be playable in any of three modes: story mode, which follows the events of the eponymous film; battle mode, which gives you unlockable rewards for completing objectives; and survival mode, which is pretty self-explanatory. Success in one mode can yield rewards in the others, including new weapons (there are seven in all) and unlimited ammunition.

As this is a rail shooter, movement is completely automated, and you'll only have to worry about pure shooting. Again, the planned enemies--such as predators, eggs, or the alien queen--weren't present, so it was impossible to see what form this shooting would take. Sound was also absent in this very early build. The graphics were the main draw, and they looked on par with other Swerve 3D engine games.
