AEW's Brodie Lee Says His Future In The Company Is All On Him
AEW's Brodie Lee Says His Future In The Company Is All On Him-September 2024
Sep 21, 2024 4:23 PM

This Saturday, Brodie Lee--the leader of the Dark Order--will face Jon Moxley at All Elite Wrestling's Double or Nothing PPV for the AEW Championship. This is Lee's first title match in the company since leaving WWE back in December.

Formerly known as Luke Harper with WWE, Lee seems to feel much more at home at AEW since his arrival back in March. "This is where I feel I belong," Lee told GameSpot. "This is something I have to prove to not only myself, not only to the fans, but to my family who's believed in me--my family who stood behind me to make this leap. I feel this is where I belong in the business. I feel I'm in a position to make a difference in the industry, in AEW, I feel that AEW is in a position to make a difference in the industry in the next handful of years. And I'm here for the long haul, I'm here to do it right off the bat."

Lee continued saying that there were a lack of opportunities for him in the past. "It's up to me to take advantage of those opportunities," Lee continued. "There's no one left to blame. There's no writers to blame. There's no one to say [I was] 'being held back.' So here I am, put me on the screen, let me talk. And if it's good, it's good. If it's not, then it's on me. And there's a certain pressure to that, but that's a pressure that I'm willing to deal with.

"I'm very fortunate to be given this opportunity at this point in my career. I feel like I'm reaching a prime. I know that's weird to say at this stage of a career, but it's almost like a rebirth, and I'm being reborn in a way. And it's just lit a fire under me after my release in December, and almost the expectation of doing it was, I visualized it almost daily. And it was leading up to a debut in Rochester, which was almost too good to be true."

As for his match against Moxley, the two have a long history with each other, as they've wrestled together in CZW, Evolve, and of course, in WWE. However, both men have come into their own since their time together in the past, so fans should be treated to something new and exciting, even if they've seen it before. "The match is very, very important to me; it's been a lifelong goal of mine to be a world champion," Lee said. "And holding the belt is one thing, but being recognized, in the records, as a world champion, is very, very important to me. And doing it with Jon Moxley...we're going to do it I would say probably in the prime of our careers here in AEW."

You can see Lee face Moxley for the AEW Championship on Saturday, May 23 at Double or Nothing. The main card begins at 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET. If you want to watch the PPV, you'll have to order it from B/R Live (US and Canada only) or Fite TV, depending on where you live in the world. The price for the show is $50 USD--it will differ depending on region.
