Yesterday, games developer and publisher Activision held its quarterly conference call to announce company earnings, and the news was certainly favorable. For the quarter ending December 31, Activision's total earnings jumped 39 percent from last year's US$193.5 million to $268.9 million. Of that total amount, the company pocketed $22.3 million, also a significant increase from last year's $15.7 million.
Activision chairman and CEO Robert Kotick attributed the company's growth to the successful sales of Quake III for the PC, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for the PlayStation, and Toy Story 2 for the Nintendo64.
Activision anticipates that its success will carry on into the immediate future with the release of games like Soldier of Fortune (PC), Star Trek: Armada (PC), Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (N64), and Toy Story 2 (DC).
