Activision has announced that it has extended its agreement with Marvel, giving Activision exclusive rights to the X-Men, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, and Iron Man properties through 2009. The agreement also gives Activision the rights to develop games based on movies featuring characters from each property.
"Our association with Marvel has resulted in some of the most critically acclaimed and successful superhero video games ever," stated Ron Doornink, president of Activision. "This announcement further underscores the strength of our relationship with Marvel and our commitment to the superhero genre and allows us to continue developing exceptional games based on these highly successful franchises well into the future."
Activision is currently working on X2: Wolverine's Revenge, which will be released alongside the upcoming X-Men film. Games based on Iron Man and Fantastic Four are also in the works. We'll post more details as they become available.
