Activision announced on Tuesday that it has teamed with Mat "Condor" Hoffman to create a new BMX title for the PlayStation. Titled Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX, the game will make use of an enhanced version of the Neversoft-developed Tony Hawk's Pro Skater engine.
Mat Hoffman is credited by ESPN as bringing freestyle biking to the level that it is today - he has won nine world championships in the sport. Hoffman has also founded and owns the stunt/BMX bike manufacturer Hoffman Bikes, the elite Hoffman Bikes Factory, and Exhibit Clothing.
"Bicycle stunt biking is one of the hottest extreme sports, and we are very excited to work with a legendary figure like Mat Hoffman to create Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX," states Mitch Lasky, executive vice president, Activision Studios. "The game's signature tricks, licensed bikes, and a "dream team" of pro riders will deliver the radical world of freestyle biking to PlayStation gamers."
Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX will let players compete as Mat Hoffman or as seven other top pro riders. The game will challenge players to perform tricks and moves in a multitude of vert, street, and dirt levels. It will also feature a two-player split-screen mode. Look for Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX this fall.
