Acclaim reported today that its third-quarter revenues fell drastically from the same period in 1999, showing a net loss of US$49.7 million. Analysts at the company attribute the losses to the postponement of several anticipated titles to fourth-quarter release dates. Fur Fighters and Vanishing Point, in development for the both the Dreamcast and PlayStation, were scheduled for summer releases, but have now been delayed until the end of the year.

　　Acclaim also believes that part of its financial slide stems from price erosion associated with the industry's transition to next-generation consoles. To combat the losses, Acclaim has implemented steps to reduce its overall operating costs by 25 percent. Strict expense controls, the cancellation of certain projects, and "selected reductions in its workforce" are some of the strategies being implemented to lower overhead. The company also announced that Turok 3 and Quarterback Club 2001 will be its last releases for the Nintendo 64. Acclaim's tentative release schedule for the last quarter of 2000 and the first quarter of 2001 is as follows:
