Face it, you've always wanted to go to the Playboy Mansion to test your skill and endurance in a ninety-nine hour marathon. Interplay announced that nine lucky gamers will get a chance to do just that. Beginning at noon on Friday, September 18 and lasting until 3pm Monday, September 21 Shiny's new Wild 9 action title for the PlayStation will be the center of attraction in the 99 Hours of Wild Fun contest.
Known for its many parties, the Playboy mansion in Holmby Hills, Calif., will be the site for the competition. Gamers will be allowed nine-minute breaks every hour and a 90 minute break every nine hours to refresh or play with cute little bunnies on the lawn (so they say). At the end of the competition, there can be only one player standing and that lucky gamer will take home US$9,999.99 and a year's worth of Interplay releases. First runner up will receive $999.99. The next seven high scorers receive prizes as well.
"This contest was designed to honor everything that the typical gamer holds dear to the heart," stated David Perry, President of Shiny Entertainment. "We are giving PlayStation gamers the opportunity to do what they love and rewarding them for it! The chosen nine are going to sit in easy chairs eating food and playing a great game at one of the most fabulous locations in America, Hugh Hefner's legendary Playboy Mansion. What more could a gamer want? I can't imagine a better way to kick off Wild 9."
Now the bad news: eligible gamers must be over the age of 18 and show proof of California residency. If you fill those requirements head on over to the Wild 9 Web site and sign up. You'll have only until Friday, Sept. 11 to sign up for the contest and lucky competitors will be contacted during the week of Sept. 14.
No word on if any magazine celebrities will be on hand to congratulate or distract the participants.
