Microsoft sold 1 million Xbox 360s during the past three months, helping push worldwide life-to-date sales to 78.2 million, the company has revealed as part of its latest earnings report.
The 1 million systems sold during the quarter is down slightly from 1.1 million consoles sold during the same period last year.
By comparison, PlayStation 3 sales are estimated to be around 77 million units. Meanwhile, the original Wii has outpaced both platforms by a healthy margin, selling close to 100 million systems to date.
Microsoft's Xbox division posted $134 million in revenue (up 8 percent) for the period ended June 30. Xbox Live transactional revenue jumped 20 percent, the company said.
The Xbox One launches in November for $500.
