Only a few days after Interplay announced that it had licensed the LithTech engine for one of its upcoming role-playing games, 3DO and New World Computing issue a similar statement. Seattle-based Monolith has licensed its increasingly popular LithTech engine, which is also currently being used by developers like Third Law, to New World for use in developing Might & Magic 9.
"We are thrilled that 3DO and New World Computing have chosen the LithTech 3D game OS for use in the highly acclaimed Might and Magic brand," commented Monolith CEO Jason Hall in a statement made this morning. "LithTech's ability to handle huge outdoor environments combined with state-of-the-art special effects will insure the talented Might and Magic teams can build the most beautiful worlds yet seen in the fantasy genre."
Little is currently known about Might & Magic 9, and 3DO doesn't have a release date set for the game yet, and considering that Might & Magic 8 is still months away from release, don't expect one for a while.
