2K Sports is looking for an ace with the PlayStation 2 release of 2003's highly regarded Xbox tennis sim, Top Spin, which is now available in stores.
The cross-platform port of Microsoft's second-party tennis game became a possibility late last year, after the company pulled up stakes in the sports gaming market and sold off the rights to its Amped, Links, and Top Spin franchises to Take-Two Interactive for use by its 2K Sports publishing label.
Top Spin for the PS2 includes the core features of the original, including online play, and it adds support for the EyeToy, letting players put their own faces in the game. The roster of 16 licensed pros has also been shuffled. Gone are retired pros Pete Sampras and Anna Kournikova, who are replaced by the likes of Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, Venus Williams, and Carlos Moya.
Top Spin is rated E for Everyone and retails for $39.99. Check back later for GameSpot's full review.
