Today during Sony's Gamescom media briefing, the company confirmed that the $199 12GB PlayStation 3 model will be sold in North America. It is available now at Target, Best Buy, and Amazon.

　　Retailer leaks last week suggested the model would be released in North America this week.

　　Sony also announced during its briefing today that the same 12GB PS3 will see a price drop in Europe, falling from €229 to €199.

　　Sony's Gamescom briefing today brought news of a PlayStation 4 November release date, Minecraft coming to the console as a launch title, and a PlayStation Vita price cut.
