1 million enlist for COD: World at War DLC-January 2024

It takes an army to fight a war, and Activision is having no problems finding volunteers. The publisher said today that the Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 logged more than 1 million downloads during its opening weekend on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. The pack is available for $9.99 (800 Microsoft points).

Map Pack 1 introduces four new multiplayer maps to World at War. On the competitive front, the pack includes Nightfire, set during the Allies' invasion of Berlin; Knee Deep, which has players attacking (and defending) a fortified Japanese outpost; and the aptly named Station, in which players do battle in an underground subway system.

The new cooperative map--Verruckt, which is German for "crazy"--lets up to four players fend off a never-ending horde of Nazi zombies and includes a number of new weapons and items. For more on this mode, check out GameSpot's recent hands-on.
