Friday the 13th Game Closes With $800,000-Plus-April 2024
Apr 30, 2025 6:18 PM

The Kickstarter campaign for the new Friday the 13th: The Game has ended, bringing in a total of $823,704 from 12,218 backers. The campaign closed on Friday, November 13 (see what they did there?), having met its $700,000 funding target two days earlier.

Friday the 13th: The Game, as it's being called, is in development at Gun Media and Illfonic with the full support of franchise creator Sean Cunningham. It's a third-person, asymmetrical multiplayer game for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The hook is that one player controls Jason Voorhees, while seven others take control of camp counselors who are attempting to survive the night.

A series of stretch goals were met before the campaign ended, including a new Mirror Kill ($725,000), a 3D Head Crush Kill where eyeballs pop out ($750,000), and the Rip Your Heart Out Kill ($775,000). Funding needed to reach $1.625 million for a single-player campaign to be added.

It remains to be seen if developers plan to accept further funding through means outside of Kickstarter as others have done before.

Friday the 13th: The Game is tentatively scheduled to launch in October 2016 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. For more, read GameSpot's previous coverage.
