California-based Zona has announced Terazona, a server engine for 3D online games that is capable of supporting more than 32,000 players per server. Servers in most current 3D online games cannot support more than 6,000 players per server. The Terazona engine includes a number of advanced features, including high scalability, reliable fault tolerance, and the ability to run on any operating system and hardware combination. The engine can also be adapted for use on a variety of platforms, including the PC, the Sony PlayStation 2, the Nintendo GameCube, and the Microsoft Xbox.
