More than 400,000 people bought a copy of Bohemia Interactive's open-world zombie survival game Day Z in the week after it launched on December 16, the publisher has announced. The game sold 88,000 copies in 12 hours, and went on to move 172,500 copies in its first full day.

　　An alpha version of the game is available today through Steam Early Access for $30 or from the developer's website for €21.96. Sales of this level means Day Z has already generated millions in worldwide revenue--and it isn't even finished yet.

　　"Please be aware that our Early Access offer is a representation of our core pillars, and the framework we have created around them," Bohemia said about the current state of Day Z. "It is a work in progress and therefore contains a variety of bugs. We strongly advise you not to buy and play the game at this stage unless you clearly understand what Early Access means and are interested in participating in the ongoing development cycle."

　　According to the latest available data from Steam, more than 37,000 people are playing the game right now. At peak, more than 43,000 people played the game simultaneously, pushing the Day Z servers "to their limits," Bohemia said.
