Nintendo is, as usual, a major presence at this year’s Gamescom, and all this week they’ve been streaming revealing new looks at anticipated games like The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Luigi’s Mansion 3, and the Switch version of The Witcher 3. Don’t worry if you missed the initial streams -- I’ve collected all the new footage, below.
First up, with have Zelda: Link’s Awakening. We get a new look at how the arrangeable Chamber Dungeons will work, with the Nintendo reps designing and playing through a full dungeon. We also get to see a partial playthrough of the classic Angler’s Tunnel dungeon and a showdown with a miniboss. This game continues to look as fun, and cute, as all get out. You can check out my Link’s Awakening hands-on impressions and a short interview from E3, right here.
Next up, Luigi’s Mansion 3! This chunk of gameplay provides a look at a new lush, plant-covered floor of Luigi’s Mansion 3’s haunted hotel. We also see a showdown with a boss, Dr. Potter, who carries around a piranha plant that’s a lot scarier than the ones Luigi usually encounters. You can check out my Luigi’s Mansion 3 hands-on impressions and a short interview from E3, right here.
Finally, here’s a good, substantial 20-minute-plus look of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt running on Nintendo Switch. Clearly the resolution and levels of detail have taken a hit, but the game looks perfectly playable, and should look just fine in handheld mode. Wccftech’s Chris Wray recently got the check out the Switch version of The Witcher 3 – check out his impression here.
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening launches on September 20, Luigi’s Mansion 3 arrives October 31, and The Witcher 3 hits Switch on October 15. What do you think? Which upcoming Switch game are you most anticipating?
