Yuzu Is The First Switch Emulator To Be Announced, Made By Citra’s Developers-November 2024
Nov 26, 2024 6:28 AM

Yuzu is the first PC emulator for the Nintendo Switch console - though it may be a while before it actually runs any game in a half-decent way.

The announcement came during the weekend by the same developers responsible for Citra, the open source emulator for the Nintendo 3DS.

Announcing yuzu, the first Nintendo Switch emulator that does all of the things you didn't need it to do! Stay tuned for more from the yuzu team!

It is a bit surprising to hear about an emulator being worked on less than a year before the Switch's original release (in March 2017), though this might have to do with the well known Tegra X1 architecture of the hardware.

Just recently we've been covering the great strides made by Cemu, the Wii U emulator. However, the Nintendo Switch is considerably more powerful than its predecessor and it may take a year or two before the average gaming PC can successfully emulate games running on its hardware.

Still, we'll keep covering any update on Yuzu (and potential competitors from other developers) as they become available. Stay tuned for more!
