Ys VIII: Lacrimosa Of Dana, the latest entry in the series developed by Falcom, has been released on PlayStation 4 this September, and the PC version has yet to release. Recently, publisher NISA confirmed that they were aiming for a mid-December release, but sadly, the game has been delayed again.
In a new blog post, NISA Senior Associate Producer Alan Costa confirmed that Ys VIII: Lacrimosa Of Dana will release on PC sometime next year. According to Costa, the PC version has been delayed as a consequence of the revision project that has been announced last month.
So, what exactly are we doing with this revision? Well, as NISA President Mr. Yamashita mentioned in his message, we are addressing the localization of Ys VIII from the ground up including the below:
- Reviewing and revising the translation with a new translator
- A complete re-edit of the script (voiced and unvoiced) as well as corrections to item names and descriptions with a new editor
- Voice re-recording
- Debugging the new build
Even with the current script, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is an excellent action role-playing game, and one of the best released this year.
It took years for Falcom to develop the perfect entry in the series, and with Ys VIII: Lacrimosa Of Dana, they finally managed to do so by refining the renewed story focus and gameplay mechanics introduced in Ys Seven without taking away what makes the series so enjoyable. With a well-executed, albeit not really original story, charming cast, fast paced battle system, engaging boss battles, tight challenge level and plenty of side-content, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa Of Dana is without a doubt the best entry in the series and one of the best action role-playing games released this year.
Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is now out on PlayStation 4. The game will release next year on PC.
