Japanese developer Falcom is busy putting the finishing touches on The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III, which is expected to launch on October 22 for PlayStation 4. Despite having all hands on deck for the latest entry in the Trails series, company president Toshihiro Kondo is talking to "multiple publishers" about bringing its games to Nintendo Switch.
Following the Nintendo Switch port of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, which debuted on the console-handheld hybrid in June 2018, DualShockers asked Kondo if more of the studio's games would arrive on Nintendo's system. "We have talks in progress with multiple publishers regarding possible Switch games, but I can't tell you anything precise yet or if it will happen or not," Kondo said.

While Ys VIII is the only Falcom title to launch on Nintendo Switch, it isn't the only game developed by Falcom to debut on a Nintendo console. The action-RPG Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure, which released in Japan in December 2004, made its way to Nintendo 3DS in October 2016, almost a decade after launching on PSP in the West. These are the only two of Falcom's extensive catalog that has made it to some form of Nintendo system in recent years.
Also out of the DualShockers interview, Kondo confirmed that Falcom has no current plans of porting Ys IX: Monstrum Nox to other regions, stating that the team is especially focused on nailing the Japanese release first.
In an interview with GameSpot, Kondo said that while Trails of Cold Steel III is the third entry in the franchise, the studio is conscious of newcomers. "We have a very, very well thought out backstory which explains the events from the previous games in the series," Kondo said. "As you can see, character profiles, world introduction, all of these things are there. You're able to read all about them and the world that they have in the other games. This is the first thing you can do to catch yourself up with the previous games."
