　　The Netflix sci-fi show Stranger Things returns for Season 2 in 2017. In a new interview, co-creator Matt Duffer said there are "limitless" possibilities for where the show could go in Season 3 and beyond, though he has said before that he doesn't expect the show to run for all that long.

　　Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Matt Duffer said he and his brother Ross have a rough idea for where Stranger Things could go in future seasons. Like Season 1, next year's season will tell a self-contained story that explores, among other things, what happens to Will after his time in the Upside Down. The final episode of Season 1 teases that Will was indeed affected by his time in that netherworld, but it remains to be seen what this might do to his physical or emotional well-being.

　　"Once we got into the room for Season 2, we started expanding our mythology," Matt Duffer said. "We never got boxed in, because we’re dealing with an alternate dimension. It feels like the possibilities are limitless. We're building up the mythology in a way that we know now where we want the story and these characters to end. We have more of a game plan now than we did two years ago."

　　Matt Duffer also teased that there is a new female character being added for Strange Things Season 2. She's a kid, he said, and the producers conducted a "wide, wide" search to find an actress to play her. We don't know if that search is over, but Matt Duffer said about the role, "She's a cool new character."

　　Also in the interview, Ross Duffer said Netflix never pressured him or his brother to make more episodes of Stranger Things than they wanted. Season 1 had eight episodes; Season 2 will have nine.

　　"And I think in future seasons it will be the same thing," he explained. "Let's break out the story and see what we need. Whatever number it ends up at, great. The thing I like about keeping it down to eight or nine is that we're able to more meticulously control things and try to keep it from turning into this machine that’s grinding things out. If it gets much longer, it could become unwieldy and just turn into a traditional show--which is what we're avoiding."

　　The brothers previously said that their hope is for Stranger Things enjoy a Breaking Bad-like run. That show had 62 episodes across five seasons.

　　When it confirmed the second season earlier this year, Netflix also released the titles of all nine Stranger Things Season 2 episodes. Matt Duffer said those titles, though they may not be final, contain "major" teases for what will happen.

　　"Some of the fan theories online are amazing," he said. "Most are wrong, but I've read a few that are right or very close. Some of those people have figured stuff out based off of the chapter titles."

　　Overall, Stranger Things has been described by the Duffer brothers as "darker and weirder." Just recently, actor David Harbour teased that Season 2 is "insane," while it's also been confirmed that there will be more Eggo waffles in Season 2.
