In an interview with Wired magazine (Japan edition), Shigeru Miyamoto talked about the future of the N64.
According to him, future N64 games should work with the Game Boy, 64DD, or even a communication link - just like Pokemon Stadium, in which an N64 game and GB game will be combined via 64GB Pak or like Zelda 64, where different kinds of data will be added to the game so that the game itself will eventually be different from another users' Zelda 64.
"Ultimately I want the game to become too personalized and attached so that it can't be sold to used-game shops," he said. "After finishing F-Zero X and Zelda 64, we are finally breaking the trend of sequels. So I'm thinking about starting development on a whole new game."
