Microsoft's Xbox game-streaming service, Project xCloud, launches for everyone in September, but the company will begin to allow people in for a new beta test on Android very soon.

　　People who subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will be able to check out xCloud's beta on Android starting on August 11. To get ready, you can download the Xbox Game Pass beta app through the Google Play store. The beta servers will go live at 6 AM PT on August 11, a spokesperson for Microsoft told WindowsCentral.

　　Microsoft has tested xCloud with the public before, but this is the first time it will include Xbox Game Pass integration. A spokesperson for Microsoft said this test will help provide necessary data to the company to help ensure a smooth rollout when xCloud officially launches in September.

　　In terms of games that will be available to play, there will be a "subset" of the Xbox Game Pass library, though specific titles were not mentioned. "This limited beta is critical to providing the best possible experience for members at launch and should not be considered indicative of the final experience or library," the spokesperson said.

　　Project xCloud will not be available on iOS, at least not right away, due to a behind-the-scenes clash between Microsoft and Apple.

　　"Unfortunately, we do not have a path to bring our vision of cloud gaming with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to gamers on iOS via the Apple App Store," a Microsoft spokesperson told The Verge.

　　Microsoft also called out Apple for "consistently treats gaming apps differently, applying more lenient rules to non-gaming apps even when they include interactive content."
