You Can Buy X-Men: Apocalypse Tickets on Snapchat-November 2024
Nov 17, 2024 2:25 PM

20th Century Fox is looking to Snapchat for a new X-Men: Apocalypse marketing campaign. The company has purchased sponsored lenses on the app and also is allowing users to buy movie tickets directly through it.

Fox is breaking new ground here, as this is the first movie-ticketing deal in Snapchat history, according to Variety. March's Batman v Superman : Dawn of Justice also had sponsored Snapchat lenses.

Today (May 23) only, Snapchat users in the US can apply different lenses based on characters from the superhero movie. There are nine available, and they are: Apocalypse, Cyclops, Mystique, Storm, Nightcrawler, Magneto, Quicksilver, Professor X, and Beast.

As for the movie ticket campaign, now through May 26 (Apocalypse opens in the US on May 27), users who see an ad for the film can swipe up to buy tickets. Merchant options include Fandango and MovieTickets.com.

The Apocalypse ads are currently running on a variety of channels in the Snapchat "Discover" tab. Some of these include People, BuzzFeed, Food Network, Vox, Vice, and the Wall Street Journal.

It's not just films being advertised on Snapchat, as Electronic Arts ran ads on platform to promote Dragon Age Inquisition. You can also follow GameSpot on Snapchat.

Apocalypse opened last week in a number of international markets, pulling in more than $103 million. That put it ahead of the last entry, 2014's Days of Future Past.

Here is a segment from GameSpot's Apocalypse review, written by editor Tony Guerrero:

"X-Men: Apocalypse contains enough action, suspense, heartbreak, and excitement to keep you hooked. The movie juggles a lot of characters, and many don't get the time to be fully explored or utilized, but the movie never fails to keep you entertained for its entire running time thanks to the action and heart of the protagonists."
