The N64 is about to prove that it can push 2-D gaming to its limits with Nintendo's latest Yoshi adventure, Yoshi's Story. The game will clock in at 128 megabits, and will contain over 20 levels of side-scrolling action. The game is planned for release in Japan this November, with a US release trailing it on February 9, 1998.
Yoshi's homeland has been turned into a "picture book" world, and the player has to help Yoshi and his friends get through this world and back to Yoshi's home. There are a total of six Yoshi characters (each with a different color), and some familiar enemies from the Mario and Yoshi worlds.
As you can see from these screenshots (of the Japanese version), Miyamoto's 2-D abilities are not lost on this new adventure, which promises to be one of the best N64 titles of 1998.
