Another day, another Lords of the Fallen patch. Earlier today, developer Hexworks rolled out yet another update for the game, packing stability and performance improvements as well as well tweaks.
After numerous patches to address some of the apparent performance issues with the game. Yesterday's update addressed crashing issues on AMD GPUs, and today's patch aims to improve the game's stability by fixing more crashes and improving performance by reducing memory allocation and freeing up a bit of VRAM. In addition, this new update packs some tweaks for bosses and NPCs. Also included with this update are gameplay fixes as well as VFX and User Interface improvements. Be sure to check out the full release notes for this new patch here.
"Today has been a good day", the development team writes. "Our bug kill count has reached its highest to date, thanks to your support via Sentry."
The developer added that the team is currently working to further free up VRAM to improve performance. This, however, will take a bit of time. "Additionally, we have begun to implement more substantial performance improvements. This is aimed at freeing up VRAM to provide additional headroom for GPUs that are operating at the limit of their capabilities. This process is taking some time because we are committed to ensuring that you do not lose any quality."
Lords of the Fallen is available worldwide now for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Here's what we wrote about this mediocre Soulslike in our launch review:
"Lords of the Fallen showed a lot of promise before release, and I was disappointed to see how the game failed to deliver an enjoyable experience", we wrote. "Some die-hard Souls series fans may find some enjoyment in the 35 or so hours-long journey to save Mournstead, but everyone else likely won't be able to see past the game's many shortcomings. Combat is the heart and the (dark) soul of any soulslike, and an interesting story and solid world design can only do so little to alleviate issues stemming from clunky combat design."
