Critically acclaimed comic series Y: The Last Man has been the subject of many rumors and stories of television adaptations over the years. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the latest attempt at turning it into a TV series has found a showrunner.
THR reports that Smallville and Heroes producer Michael Green has been pegged as the showrunner for FX's Y: The Last Man. He's also co-writing the script with original author Brian K. Vaughan, who's currently in the midst of another critically acclaimed comic series called Saga.
Y: The Last Man follows Yorick after every mammal with a Y chromosome (males) on Earth dies. That is everyone except for him and his monkey, Ampersand. His goal is to reunite with his girlfriend who was in Australia when the plague hit, but along the way, he meets a bunch of people. These include Dr. Allison Mann, who wants to discover why the plague happened, and Agent 355, who is tasked with protecting Yorick during their journey.
Showrunner Green's other work includes script writing on Logan, Alien: Covenant, and the upcoming Blade Runner sequel. He also runs television series American Gods with Bryan Fuller.
