The long-delayed horror themed X-Men movie The New Mutants was set to finally hit theaters in April, before the COVID-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of its release. However, it has now been announced that the film will instead be released on August 28, 2020.
The news was confirmed by the official X-Men movie Twitter feed, which also revealed the movie's poster with the new date. The poster makes it clear that the movie will be hitting theaters and not getting the streaming release which was rumored last week. Check it out below:

The New Mutants was shot way back in 2017, and originally set to be released in April 2018. However, rumors of extensive reshoots, repeated delays, and the sale of Fox's entertainment assets to Disney caused some to wonder if we'd ever get to see it--including the film's own exasperated cast members.
The movie is directed by Daniel Boone and stars Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Blu Hunt, Henry Zaga, and Charlie Heaton. Watch the latest New Mutants trailer here.
