Activision has revealed some additional details on X-Men Legends, the Marvel Comics-inspired action strategy game in development for the GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. In the game, you'll have to prevent Magneto from hatching a plan that would imprison the human race. Before setting out on a mission to defeat Magneto, you must assemble a team of four X-Men by choosing from a list of 15 characters that includes Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, and Jean Grey. Each of these characters can gain experience over the course of the game that can be used to upgrade the team, upgrade individual characters, or even unlock additional mutant abilities. In addition, you'll encounter a wide variety of characters from the comic book series, such as The Brotherhood of Mutants and Sentinels.
X-Men Legends features branching gameplay and various multiplayer options to extend replay value. You can play alone or have three other players join you for some cooperative action--newcomers can also jump right into a game with more experienced players. X-Men Legends is scheduled for release in Q4 2004.
