Microsoft announced today that the Xbox One's first major system update has been delayed, but the good news is the delay is a short one. The update won't be out today as was previously announced, but Microsoft is targeting it to launch later this week.
The update, described by Microsoft's Marc Whitten on the Xbox Wire as "step one on our journey and commitment to deliver continuous innovation," introduces functionality that will allow players to manage their hard drive space, download queues, and install order. This update also adds an on-screen battery power indicator for controllers and support for USB keyboards.
The next major Xbox One system update is scheduled to launch on March 4, a week before the much-anticipated Titanfall arrives. Whitten said Microsoft has heard your feedback and this update promises to "significantly improve" the multiplayer and party experience on Xbox One. A rundown of the changes coming through the March 4 Xbox One update is below.
Friends List - The friends list will move to a more prominent location in the Friends app.Party Chat - It will be turned on by default and you'll be able to chat with friends playing different games."Invite Friends to Game" option - Already available on Xbox 360, the new option will be available on Xbox One through a game's menu.Recent Players - The update will introduce a simple list that shows Xbox Live users you recently played with, making it easier for you to sync up with them if you want.Whitten teased that "many more great features" are coming to Xbox One through the March update. More details will be shared in the days and weeks ahead, he said.
