Xbox One/PC real-time, physics-driven game Habitat reaches funding goal-October 2024
Oct 20, 2024 6:25 PM

Xbox One and PC real-time, physics-driven orbital strategy game Habitat has reached its Kickstarter goal of $50,000. With seven days to go, funding stands at $51,938 from 798 total backers.

From independent developer Charles Cox and his studio 4gency, Habitat has you building, flying, and fighting with space stations that you build out of space junk.

Habitat includes two main game modes: sandbox and campaign. In sandbox mode, you'll find a persistent world powered by a procedural engine and populated with fields of space junk.

In Habitat's campaign mode, players can expect a narrative-driven experience where you must explore, build, and fight in a bid to "save humanity from a nano-machine army consuming Earth."

Habitat comes to the Xbox One through Microsoft's new indie program, ID@Xbox. The developer assures fans that the game's mechanics will "work smoothly" on the Xbox One controller just like they do on a keyboard and mouse layout.

It's also possible that Habitat for Xbox One will use Kinect and/or SmartGlass, but this has not been confirmed. For more on Habitat, be sure to check out the game's Kickstarter page.

Habitat is scheduled to launch this summer through an alpha for backers, before it enters beta this fall. The game's full release is scheduled for PC, Mac, Linux, and Xbox One this holiday.
