The Xbox One S, the new version of Microsft's Xbox One console, is now finally available for purchase, and gamers are anxious to learn more of the console before purchasing it. Earlier today, Digital Foundry took a good look at the console, revealing some very interesting things.

　　According to today's Digital Foundry analysis, the Xbox One S comes with a GPU that's faster than the original Xbox One's. With the Xbox One S GPU being overclocked to 914MHz, improved compute performance and ESRAM bandwidth, several titles actually run better on the Xbox One S, with some of them running at a higher frame rate, like Project CARS and Hitman, while others suffering from less tearing, like Rise of the Tomb Raider and Batman Arkham Knight. Generally, it's been noted that improvements are more likely to be found in titles with unlocked frame rate or dynamic resolution.

　　"We also decided to make the extra six per cent available to all titles. So some games (ones that utilise dynamic resolution and/or unlocked framerates) may see a very minor performance improvement. Our testing internally has shown this to be pretty minor, and is only measurable on certain games, so we didn't want to make it a 'selling point' for the new console."

　　The Xbox One S overclocked GPU is definitely a welcome surprise, but it's not the only interesting feature included in the console. The slimmer Xbox One also comes with an internal power supply, High Dynamic Range, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and streaming, and more. With so many improvements and new features, those who have yet to get an Xbox One console would do well in getting an Xbox One S.

　　The Xbox One S 2TB is now available for purchase. Bundles featuring the 500GB and 1TB variants will be released later this month.
