Both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will "sell a ton," so you shouldn't waste your time bickering with one another about platform superiority, Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb has argued.

　　"Both new platforms are off to a great start. We all should be celebrating a healthy, vibrant industry," Hryb said on Reddit (via OXM). "Sony has done a good job and they should be commended. The hate that infects gaming in the online space needs to go away. Sony will sell a ton. We will sell a ton. The industry is doing well...and consumers have choice."

　　This is not the first time Microsoft has publicly praised Sony. Earlier this month, Microsoft Game Studios corporate vice president Phil Spencer said Sony has "done a nice job" with the PS4, specifically the way in which the company stayed true to its vision for the platform.

　　The Xbox One sold 3 million units worldwide in 2013, while Sony moved 4.2 million PlayStation 4 consoles during the year. In the United States during December, the Xbox One sold 908,000 units, outperforming the PS4. But as GameSpot editor Martin Gaston explores in his editorial, those sales numbers don't tell the whole story.
